The AMG PVS-14 NW1 Gen 2 is a night-vision device originally developed for the U.S. Military. It was designed to be compact, lightweight, and capable of performing nighttime operations. The device is built to meet the stringent 810G Military standards, ensuring its durability against vibration, shock, and adverse environmental conditions.

The PVS-14 can be used as a handheld monocular, but it also comes with a head-mount assembly and a helmet/head-mount adapter, allowing for hands-free operation. This feature enables users to utilize the PVS-14 in conjunction with daytime optical systems or the iron sights of a firearm.

At the core of the PVS-14 is a Gen 2 IIT NW1 image intensifier tube. This tube is of high quality, with a limited number of spots in zone 1, providing exceptional brightness and resolution. It offers improved performance compared to lower-grade tubes.

The PVS-14 includes a bright-light automatic shutoff function, which protects the high-quality photocathode tube of the Gen 2 IIT NW1. This feature ensures that the device is not damaged by excessive light levels.

Additionally, the PVS-14 features an integrated IR (infrared) illuminator. This allows the device to be used in extremely dark environments, even on nights with no moon or stars. The IR illuminator emits infrared light, which is invisible to the human eye but detected by the PVS-14, enhancing visibility in complete darkness.

The PVS-14 is designed with user-friendly controls, making it easy to operate. It is powered by a commonly available AA battery, providing up to 50 hours of runtime per battery, which adds to its convenience and versatility.
