Steyr seamlessly combines style and functionality in the Steyr CL II Rifle, a distinctly European rifle known for its exceptional reliability and extended service life. It comes equipped with Steyr's innovative Safe Bolt System (SBS), a unique feature offering a 2+1 safety function with three settings. Controlled by a wheel selector on the receiver's tang, the first level deactivates the firing mechanism, while the second level secures the bolt in place. The SBS also includes a press-to-release tab to lock the switch in the safe and locked position, with the fire mode indicated by a red dot.

The CL II also boasts a 2-stage magazine securing mechanism. In the first stage, it locks the magazine in place but allows for bolt operation without chambering rounds from the magazine. This allows shooters to manually load individual rounds by hand while keeping a fully loaded magazine ready. A simple tap on the magazine's bottom activates the second stage, enabling automatic round loading.

As with all Steyr rifles, the CL II stands out for its outstanding accuracy, thanks in large part to the finely tuned set trigger. This trigger provides users with two pull options: a standard pull that breaks at 1.75 lbs and a second pull option, activated by pushing the trigger forward to the "set" position, which results in a clean 0.5 lb break. Accuracy is further enhanced by Steyr's renowned cold-hammer forging barrel with a match-crowned muzzle.

Additional features of the CL II include an elegant stock crafted from fine European walnut. The forend and grip sections feature "fish-scale" checkering for a secure grip, and a Bavarian-style cheekpiece ensures proper alignment between the shooter's eye and a mounted optic.
