The Uberti Colt 1860 Army revolver was a popular sidearm during the American Civil War and continued to be widely used throughout the late 19th century. Its design was an improvement upon the earlier Colt Walker and Colt Dragoon revolvers, with a more manageable size and weight.
The Uberti 1860 Army was chambered in .44 caliber and could be loaded with up to 40 grains of black powder and a round lead ball, giving it considerable stopping power at close range. It had a six-shot cylinder and a single-action trigger mechanism, meaning that the hammer had to be manually cocked before each shot.
The metal bead front sight and notch in the hammer provided a basic but effective aiming system, and the revolver was indeed quite accurate within its effective range of around 50 yards.
Uberti's reproduction of the 1860 Army revolver is faithful to the original in terms of design and materials. The case-hardened frame, brass trigger guard, and hardwood grips are all authentic details, and the engraved cylinder adds a touch of elegance to the revolver's appearance.
The Colt 1860 Army revolver and its modern-day reproduction by Uberti are both iconic examples of American firearms history and remain popular among collectors, enthusiasts, and reenactors today.
